Events and Announcements

November

In-Person Worship Suspended -- (as of 11/22/20)  Because of the high positivity rate of COVID-19 and the chance for community spread, the Session has voted to suspend in-person worship indefinitely.  Online worship through Facebook Live will still be available.  Please see Pastor Jackie's note to the congregation for more information.

Meetings, Groups and Bible Studies -- at this time, most activities are being conducted on-line, via Zoom or other method.  Please check the church's on-line calendar for events currently scheduled.  (click on the 'Dates and Events" picture to the left).

Office Hours:  guidelines due to Covid will again create alternative office hours, and more at-home hours for our staff.  Please call ahead before stopping by the office, to ensure that someone will be there when you arrive.  If you need to drop off an envelope or a form, you may put it in the locked mailbox which is on the wall next to the outside office door.

Mid-Week 'Zoom' Prayer --  (starting Nov. 25) Join Pastor Jackie and others for a mid-week prayer service on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.  Zoom will open at 6:30 p.m. for a time of socializing.  The short service will include scripture and other readings, prayer, and music. (Please note there will be no service on December 16, as a congregational event is already planned.) To join the service, please obtain the meeting link via our weekly e-mail blast, or call the office and we can e-mail it to you.

November Service Challenge:   Please scroll down to the Mission & Outreach tab to learn how you can be a part of this multi-church opportunity to "serve wholeheartedly" and make a difference in our community!

Serving God & Caring For Each Other

FPCN Members:   In the coming weeks you will be hearing more about "Serving God & Caring for Each Other", this year's Stewardship Pledge Campaign theme.  Like everything else in 2020, there will be changes to the process! What will not change is the core message of how we return God's love for us by sharing our gifts with our church.

Click on the button below to download the Pledge Form.

and, Save the Date:  we hope you will attend Consecration Sunday on November 22, either in person or online.

Christmas Poinsettias

Beautiful flowers are a gift we enjoy at Christmas time. We decorate with poinsettia plants in the Sanctuary and other areas of the building.

Would you like to help carry on this Christmas tradition?

Your gift will be acknowledged in print on Christmas Eve, remembering a loved one or honoring someone you admire – and you’ll be providing a lovely poinsettia plant.  Don’t forget you may take your poinsettia home with you after the Christmas Eve Worship Service.

Place this form in the offering basket or mail it to the Church office with your check (payable to First Presbyterian Church) marked “Flowers”. Your thoughtfulness will be appreciated.

Building Faith

Advent Study

This year’s theme is “Living in the Dark, Looking for the Light”, using the book All Creation Waits by Gayle L. Boss.  “(This book) meets us where we are. It comforts anyone who is going through a personal time of winter, and brings peace and comfort to all as we enter the Christmas season. Open this book like a gift—slowly, day-by-day, and discover the treasures inside.”

The advent study will be on Monday nights at 7:00 pm via Zoom, starting December 7.  Contact Wanda Moon for a book (wanda_moon@me.com), or you may order one from ParacletePress.com.

Mission and Outreach

Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign

Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign  – Sign-up for the Salvation Army Bell Ringing at the Northville Kroger, 425 N. Center Street (the old Hiller’s).   Two-hour shifts on Fridays and Saturdays beginning Friday, December 4 have been reserved for FPC-Northville.   Use this link on Sign Up Genius to select a time slot: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094fa4ad2da5f94-salvation

Since March when the Coronavirus arrived in Michigan, the Salvation Army has seen the increase in assistance requests grow week to week. Their red kettles are a tradition for many and a sign of hope for some in our community. According to the Salvation Army, the current Michigan Pause to Save Lives restrictions do not warrant the suspension of bell ringing. Face Coverings that cover the nose and mouth at the same time for volunteers are required. A 6 foot physical distance near the kettle and donors is required. If you feel comfortable during this pandemic in volunteering, your assistance ringing the bell can help reach their 2020 goal of $8,000,000 for the Metro Detroit area!

You may sign up on https://www.registertoring.com for shifts not assigned to our church.

If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Engler at (248) 946-4726 or email her at engler@mi.rr.com.
